Welcome
“Education is a better safeguard of liberty than a standing army,” wrote Edward Everett, and it is with this idea in mind that Chrysa Tsakopoulos, along with Shamsul and Firoz Alam founded the Pabna Association for General Education (PAGE) as a 501 c 3 non-profit in June 2009.
Heartbroken by the indigence and suffering of the children of Bangladesh, whose families live on less than $2 per day, Chrysa, Shamsul and Firoz founded PAGE as a means to bring long-lasting reform to the region of Pabna, Bangladesh.
Our first school, PAGE 1, opened in June 2009 with 54 first-grade students, over a third of whom are girls. The education of young girls is very important to PAGE. Girls in Bangladesh are married at young ages, with the average marrying age being fourteen years.
With help from our donors, we hope to have over 500 students at our school by 2016.
Please help us to make this dream a reality.
